#006 Let’s Talk Bananas!

August 1, 2017

When I started the UnBox Your Kitchen series, I worried I'd run out of ideas. So far that's not the case. I am having fun gaining inspriation from a wide variety of sources!

This week's inspiration came from a post I wrote on the UnBox Your Kitchen Facebook closed group page.

“Bananas were on sale and you couldn't resist buying a lot of
them and now they're getting too ripe. What do you do with them?”

I was surprised by the responses. I expected to see banana bread on top of the list. The popular reply was to freeze them!

In episode #006 Let's Talk Bananas I share:

  • what I do with overripe bananas
  • more responses from the group members
  • two banana ice cream recipes
  • my family’s Banana Bread

#005 What Fills Your Burrito?

July 25, 2017

What did you have for breakfast today?

Was it satisfying to your taste buds?

Did you choke down the same o' boring thing you have every morning?

Rarely do I prepare identical meals. The concept, techniques, are similar, but the ingredients vary. In today's podcast I share with you what I had for breakfast and how I made it. I am not your typical follow-the-cook-book cook. Quite often I prepare meals with whatever is readily available in the refrigerator and cupboards. Variety is the spice of life. Right?

#004 The View From The Kitchen Window

July 18, 2017

"Life" happens in the kitchen more than any other room in the house. It's where friends and family come together for good food and conversations that nourish the soul. The kitchens I've had the privilege of standing in have cherished memories and, in some cases, consoled my heartbreak. It gives me great joy to cook homemade meals and bake desserts from scratch for a crowd of one or dozens.

"The kitchen is where friends and family come together for good food
and conversations that nourish the soul." -C.K. Kochis

A couple of days ago I was staring out the kitchen window with thoughts effortlessly wandering in and out of my mind. I was reflecting on the life adjustments I've experienced this spring, the holiday meals I've cooked, what to do with my business, making cookies with my grandsons and how beautiful my garden is this year.
